There was one proud Mama Shaw at the youth banquet just seeing how hard Madi worked to get to were she is today. Not only Madi, but every kid that traveled to Kansas from Pennsylvania tried their hardest this year and
After a long wait, the Best In Show ceremony finally started! All of the rabbit breeds in youth and open were well represented and it was wonderful to see everyone come together. We are proud to say that our friend, Matt Bishop, won Best of Group with his English Angora named Ape!
Not only was Nationals a wonderful experience to meet new people, learn some new things, and see our extended rabbit family, but our rabbits did exceptionally well too! First, both Madi and Ashley took Best of Breed Giant Angora in the Youth Show and the Open Show. This was Ashley's third Giant BOB ARBA nationally and Madi's second! Madi also won BOB Satin Angora and BOV French Angora. We also brought out one of Matt Bishop's English Angoras out to Kansas, which went on to win BOB English Angora in the Youth Show!
Madi was the team captain of this year's Pa State team for her age category at Nationals this year. There were many youth competing this year and PA was very well represented!
After months of planning, grooming, and preparing....the Shaw's were off to ARBA Nationals 2012 in Kansas! We all woke up Thursday morning, packed the car and trailer, and down the yellow brick road we went! With the drive straight through being 20 hours, I think we were one of the few who have ever stopped at this Rutters gas station in the middle of Missouri and give the bunnies a little fresh air and a late dinner. We tucked them all back into the trailer and off we were to finish the rest of our trip until the convention sign warmly greeted us at the convention center.
For this years ARBA Youth Educational Contest, Madi decided to make little felted angora rabbits....one of each of the 4 breeds!
Today, Ashley competed in the Pa Lamb and Wool Queen Contest up at the Penn State Livestock Evaluation Center. Out of five very talented young ladies, Ashley was chosen to represent the Lamb and Wool Industry for the year of 2013 as the Queen. Right there supporting her along the way was Madi, Mom, and her Nana! Looking forward to what the year has to offer.....
