Today Madi is weaving a scarf on the floor loom out of yarn handspun off of her Angora Rabbits. She is entering the scarf in the Youth Educational Contest at PaSRBA 2014 and then donating it to the Auction at the Youth Banquet. She's doing a fantastic job!!
Shaw girls waiting to go into the ring with the mini's for the Miniature Horse Extravaganza show!
Today we took Flo down to their Farm Show!! She looked so beautiful underneath her little jacket, but wasn't too thrilled about being at the Farm Show! We love her!
Just A Little Twisted competed for their third year in the Sheep to Shawl competition! They used a Leicester Longwool Fleece for their warp, all handspun by the team mates. The warp was hand-dyed with wine from Cassels Vineyard to go along with their wine and cheese theme. Overall they finished, won the fleece award, and sold the shawl for $2,000...all of which was donated to the Fur N Feathers 4-H club for the kids to travel to the National 4-H Center! What a fun day
This year we had two youth teams prepared to compete in the youth Fleece to Shawl competition, Twisted Sisters and the Fibering Five! The Twisted Sisters took 3rd place with their colorful crayon themed shawl and the Fibering Five took Reserve Grand Champions with their Ronald McDonald themed Shamrock Shake shawl!
A group of girls from the Tri-County 4-H Fiber Artists Club participated in the Fashion Show! All girls completed their outfits themselves as a 4-H project and had the opportunity to show them off at this event....check out Madi's angora hand mitts!
During the first day the Farm Show was open to the public, Ashley and the 4-Her's in the Fiber Arts 4-H Club were asked to do a presentation on rabbits at the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences booth... (meat, fiber, pet, therapy, etc).
