Madi's little Nubian goat "Precious" took 1st in her class this year at the dairy goat show. Ashley showed her Leicester Longwools and took Reserve Champion AOB Wool!
The PaSRBA Youth Royalty Court spent many hours promoting the rabbit industry to the general public this year!
This year at the Pa State Farm Show, the Shaw girls and the Catra crew were invited to bring our miniature horse show to the Equine Showcase! It was a real crowd pleaser! Madi took Journey for the jumping and agility and Ashley took Bumble for the driving portion of the show!
Our sheep to shawl day started early this year with a news interview with CBS21 News. From
there, the kids went ahead and set up their spots with their equipment and off they went! Ashley spent her morning serving as the Lamb and Wool Queen talking to people in the crowds and
promoting the event as the kids were diligently working. At 1:00 the Cupcakes for Ewe team, Madi’s team, finally raced their shawl
up to the judges with about 15 seconds to spare! All the kids did well! That afternoon, Ashley and Angie’s team Just a Little Twisted competed in
the open event and what a fun, heart pumping event that was, but it was all
worth it in the end. Tyler also
served as the shearer for this close knit team!
This year, Tyler showed his Duroc pig weighing in at 274 lbs. placing second and making sale!
For several year, Fashion with a Flair has been a tradition in the Shaw family. This year, Madi designed, dyed, and sewed her own dress with inspiration coming from a contestant on American Idol. She proudly modeled her dress along with her hand woven scarf to match. By this time, Tyler was a little worn out!
For the opening ceremony at the Pa Farm Show, Tyler, our brother, was asked to join the rest of his State Council team and Madi was asked to join the rest of the PaSRBA royalty court in representing Pa commodity
Farm Show 2013 came early this year and has kicked off with a great start! Ashley won Best in Show with her English Angora White Senior Doe "Shaws Fuzzy Friends Be My Wish." Madi had a big accomplishment by placing 1st in her showmanship class of over 20! Looking forward to the rest of the week ahead...
